For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. (Romans 14:17-18).Papacheng gave me a mini-sermon on this verse yesterday as we stood in the hallway talking about random ministry dramas. He said, "we need to have deep peace and joy. Although we are passionate and burdened, never should we have worry or fear, not even about ministries failing, about grandparents not coming to faith, not even about people who drive us crazy, not even about money and loans. In all things, peace and joy and righteousness. Such is the kingdom of God."
And what shall my reaction be if one very-soon day one of them leaves without entering the Kingdom? I don't know. I still haven't finished dealing with this fear, this un-peace. It feels like everyone else's people get breakthroughs. 30+ years and there is only a tiny pushing up of a sprout.
And yet, there is a tiny pushing up of a sprout.
