The Joy Dare and living fully
My friend in Fresno introduced me to this thing called the "Joy Dare", a challenge to take the time to count one thousand gifts in 2012. I was so blessed by her blog that I decided that I would like to start too.
I don't always take the time to remember all the gifts the Father showers on me everyday, be it in the ordinary, extraordinary, seemingly insignificant, mindblowingly intense...wherever and whatever. Instead of just barely trying to survive my days, I want to live 2012 fully, passionately, wholeheartedly, with JOY.
Thus far:
1. 3 things about myself I'm grateful for:
- My need to be detail-oriented: although this sometimes borders on ocd-ness on unimportant matters, i've been learning how much God cares both big and small matters, and how good it is to praise Him by caring about details others may not notice or care for. Did He not design each and single hair on my head?
- Eyes to see the unnoticed: I like to think that He has blessed me with the sensitivity to notice and remember those who are on the fringes and sidelines, the marginalized and outcast. Here's praying that I'll go further in loving them in 2012.
- My lack of attachment to money: it's allowed me to be generous in tithing, giving, purchasing much-needed supplies for sgv, paying for younger generations.
2. a gift outside, inside, on a plate
- the recent warm weather outside: I've had a persistent cough for the last two weeks; the warm weather has allowed for a much easier and swifter recovery stage.
- sweet perfumes and scents inside
- my brother prepared lunch for me today, i was very blessed!
3. 3 lines you overheard that were graces
- "it's alright, it's not important, just as long as you're safe": my dad's gentle and calm reassurances about insurance and car repairs as I handled my second car crash of the year.
- "once you stand for what God wants from you, you will being to experience what God has for you." ~Pastor Joel Enyart.
- "it's okay!"--having a meaningful conversation with Mrs. Rock about commitments and ministry for the next year. Thank you!!
