Not trying to be sacrilegious...

When I first entered youth group in 7th grade, I remember being so in awe of all the people who were so passionate for the Savior and so into worshipping Him. I used the most popular meter of worship passion: how much did you use your hands? I seriously thought for a long time that I had to raise my hands in order to show my passion, and more to the point, to show OTHERS that I had passion.
I spent the first few years in the rookie and intermediate stages; pro and expert are reserved for the crazy mind-blowing retreats. My go-to signs are goalpost/heartburn, hold my baby, and Mufasa. ;)
What I had to learn, painfully, was that the passion comes from my relationship with Him, and that body gestures during singspiration time was merely another way to express my internal passion to follow Him and overwhelming gratitude at the grace and mercy shown me. It was too much about putting on a show, which really, even if just a little bit, is already going way too far.
As Matt Redman aptly puts it:
I'll bring you more than a song/For a song in itself/Is not what you have required/You search much deeper within/Through the way things appear/You're looking into my heart
I'm excited that God is the God of humor as well, and He allows us to laugh at our silliness even as we are earnestly trying to live out lives for Him. Take the above example!
So...which sign do you use?
