On being a daughter of Eve
Eve took the fruit
Eve took in the lie
Eve chosen to harden her heart,
chose to take that first bite.
I've tasted the fruit
and it was sublime
It set my nerves on fire
Drove me to take what I foolishly thought was mine
I'm forced into the legacy of her shame
What she did--Honestly, I chose the same
It was all a trap, deadly and poison
Ensnaring me, now I regret what I'd chosen
But now I'm free from that brokenness
I'm released from the shackles and the chains
I can claim back what she gave away
I'm redeemed
I choose to walk in the Way
The master of lies has no power over me
I'll shake off his whispers, I'm no longer in captivity
Being Eve's daughter, I saw all she suffered
I'll take the chance to choose what she wished she hadn't lost
to be the daughter of the Father who freed me from it all
(reflections on genesis 3; romans 8:1-2)

this is good stuff, yo
ReplyDeletethanks for the affirmation! although, the objective literary critic in me says otherwise. Also, I put this to a cheesy melody in my head, so I can't read it any other way...
