Thanksgiving 2012
First off...a moment of joy from Saturday:
UCLA defeats USC!!! 38-28! Six years in the making...
Okay, and now on to real Thanksgiving post...
This year MamaandPapacheng are on a special, well-deserved trip to an undisclosed location, all expenses paid by a lovely and generous couple from church! The only thing is, they're gone for the whole week, so I am spending a quiet Thanksgiving with Lilbro and Dr.Cousin1. We're going to make our own version of a Thanksgiving meal, which is a little scary, because usually Mamacheng is the one responsible for all of the food and I only contribute my baking mess in the corner for dessert. We'll see how it goes!
I just wanted to count my blessings and name them one by one :)
my God, His plan of salvation, my faith made sure by His sacrifice and resurrection
His Word
family, which includes
a warm house to live in
a warm bed to sleep in
food galore
clothes and shoes galore
my education
my privileges as a citizen
that presidential election is over for the next four years
opportunities to serve
seeing kids grow to love Jesus
a car that runs
my phone
my computer
another year to live and enjoy
theThing
accountability
that I didn't die last night when I fell
a whole room to myself
books, and the time to read them
rest and adequate sleep
starting with a gym trainer
netflix on my phone to make gym go easier and faster
thoughtful gifts
finally getting boots that fit
getting stipends as an intern
my internship--I love it so much!
beautiful planners
my alarm clock
another day of breath, life, and adventure
travel
38-28! UCLA!
That's my list for the moment, but there are so many more things to be grateful for. I stopped the Joy Dare a while back because I was very very behind, but I've realized that keeping up with it for five months really instilled in me a wonderful habit of finding good and blessings in everything, and to give thanks, rather than complaining or being discontent. I'm finding that I'm a lot happier these days, and I don't know whether it's life circumstances or because of the grateful habit or both. But I am grateful for more joy. And that brings more joy.
Happy Thanksgiving!
