Free
Free
He
He sets us free
Sets me free
Me
Free
Free Indeed
Liberty
No more slavery
No more despair
Or fear
Oh hear
His call
To all
That WE might call
Upon His name
Proclaim
His fame
Our sin to own up to and claim
Better to maim
An eye or a leg
Than to beg
While in the depths of hell
Only sulfur in the well
Better to save than sell
Your soul, than to fall into the spell
Of the temporal
Corporeal
the Banal
The legacy of Babel
Better to die to your flesh
Than to mesh
With transgression
Aggression
Self satisfaction
Better to sever
And then tether
Ourselves to Father
God who never
Waivers
Never
Reconsiders
Never
Offers
A dead end road
His blood flowed
Free
Free
Free
For us
For our purchase
For atonement
For our movement
From dark to light
From wrong to right
From death to life
From surviving and strife
To His marvelous grace
The resting place
Sit at his feet and see HIs face
Feel the warmth of His embrace
As He slowly removes
The shackles...It's painful when He removes
them. The scars from the grooves
Where the chain dug in when we tried to prove
Our false power.
He alone has the power
It's painful when he removes
He's gentle as he smooths
the cloth over the grooves
Pours his blood over the wounds
The pain proves
that scars and shackles bear a price
Sin has sliced
and diced
Enticed
Then violently spliced
But it didn't sever
us from God forever
He made the way
The only way
He puts us back together
Frees us from the oppressor
Became our intercessor
Possessor
Our mighty Protector
We were walking cadavers
Now we are gathered
Unmeasured
Whomsoever
Calls on Him
Believes in Him
Trusts and waits in faith for Him
Is Free
Whom the Son sets Free
Is Free Indeed.
